Lagond Music in alliance with Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES is pleased to announce Arts in Education programs for the 2006-2007 school year that reach out to neighboring school districts.
The World of Drums
Experience first hand, drums and percussion from around the world. Put
the excitement of the drums in your own hands and body. There will be a
performance and description of the various instruments, as well as
group participation. We will deal with the tradition of playing drums
from different parts of the world (Africa, India, the Caribbean, South
America and the contemporary drum set) and how individual rhythm parts
all fit together to create a distinct style.
Students will learn how to sing a rhythm, play a rhythm, dance a rhythm!
Suitable for Grades: 4 through 12
Finding Your Own Musical Voice
Music is not a competition – It’s about finding and expressing who you are. Take the journey of finding your inner voice through simple yet challenging group rhythmic exercises, guided imagery, breathing, movement and, of course, playing. Break down inhibitions and release a deeper more expressive you. Dare to be who you are and what you feel through your music!
Individual instruments, including voice, required for exercises. Best suited for small bands/ensembles up to 20 students.
Suitable for Grades: 5 through 12
Trash Drumming

You'll learn the basic skills, rhythms and styles of drumming and apply those skills in innovative, creative ways.
Suitable for Grades: 4 through 8

Entertaining, Introduction to Classical Guitar
Experience an energetic introduction to Classical Guitar. Program starts with a flashy piece to get students attention, then a brief history and explanation of guitar anatomy. The teacher then performs an interactive mini-concert which engages and stimulates visualization and imagination in the individual students. The class then shares storytelling experienced through each musical piece.
Suitable for Grades: 3 through 6
The Joy of Music
Group drumming programs that teach kids to play together through music,
storytelling and songwriting. Students find rhythm in a variety of places. We then
incorporate these sounds into music. Simultaneously students learn hard-to-teach
concepts of teamwork and community. What better way to teach kids to appreciate
diversity than to have them play all kinds of different instruments. Combining different
sounds to make unique, beautiful music? A powerful message delivered with fun,
humor and joy.
