
Bryan Copeland (Bass/Composer)
Born in Abilene, TX.,bassist/composer/ bandleader Bryan Copeland spent the early part of his life growing up in the fertile farm lands of the north Texas panhandle. He lived his more formative years in Dallas and Austin, TX., surrounded by blues, folk, and country music. Currently, he resides in New York, where he uses his country roots, along with jazz and classical training, to influence his unique compositional styling.
Copeland began studying the bass with world renowned classical bassist Satoshi Okamoto (New York Philharmonic), and has continued his studies with Larry Grenadier, Erik Revis, Drew Gress, and Harvie S. He received his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from Texas State University under the tutelage of Dr. James Polk (Ray Charles writer/arranger).
