David Cady was a casting director for Donna DeSeta Casting in New York City for close to 30 years during which he cast countless projects, including Disney’s Enchanted, Michael John LaChiusa’s The Petrified Prince for the Public Theater and the world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman’s Whistle Down the Wind, directed by Harold Prince. Films on which he has assisted include the original Dirty Dancing, Ironweed starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson, Knight and Day starring Tom Cruise and the television series Miami Vice.
He’s been a preeminent acting teacher in New York for the past 25 years, with a focus on Musical Theatre performance at American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) for the past ten.
He was an original cast member of the Stephen Sondheim/George Furth Broadway musical Merrily We Roll Along directed by Harold Prince, and can be seen discussing the experience in the 2016 documentary film The Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened.
